BRASSED ON

This is a documentary I produced in collaboration with NARC. Magazine and Durham County Council for Durham Brass Festival. It was filmed and edited by me and documents an innovative new project called Brassed On, a project which aimed to facilitate collaborations between some of the world’s best brass bands and local music artists, culminating in a performance at the esteemed Durham Town Hall as part of the festival.

The initial year included collaborations between Sunderland singer/songwriter Tom A. Smith and Leeds based brass quartet Loud Noises and Teesside’s RnB songstress Sisi and New Orleans’ very own The Original Pinettes.

The film features snippets of each of the performances as well as rehearsal footage also captured at Durham Town Hall. It also features interviews from members of each of the acts involved, Jennie Brewis and Sue Collier – the driving force behind Durham Brass Festival and this very project – and Claire Dupree and David Saunders, chief editors of NARC. Magazine.
